Since 1999 there has been no rule stating that countries have to sing only in their own national languages.

In 2021 lyrics in Sranan Tongo were sang for the first time.
In 2022 lyrics in Latin were sang for the first time.
In 2023 no new languages appeared.

In 2024 lyrics in Azerbaijani were sang for the first time

@strutheo Looks this market can already resolve to Yes. The source wikipedia page shows three new languages were used in songs during the semi-finals. All three will be sung again in the final on Saturday, but the criteria seem to suggest the semi-finals count so it's a moot point anyway.

@strutheo Hey, i have a few clarifying questions if you wanna answer them:

  1. Do different dialects of a previously used language count?

  2. How do you differentiate a dialect from a language?

  3. How much of the song has to be sung/spoken in the language?
