I think that, putting the millenarianism to one side for a minute, he continues to have well worded takes that don't fit the zeitgeist. It's plausible the Joe Rogan is interested in him for that reason alone. Of course he does also fit perfectly onto the "apocalyptic predictions" niche that gets people excited.
@strutheo I think Rogan would feel incentivised to push the cult leader angle if he went on the podcast, which Eliezer would likely anticipate and feel conflicted over. Like Rogan would probably think that the way to get him to produce the best sound bites would be to say things he thought would be stroking his ego.
@MalachiteEagle People don’t give Rogan enough credit. He’s actually a thoughtful and respectful interviewer. He’s not a shock jock, he’s a crank whisperer. He kept
Trump on topic and pushed RFK Jr. on vaccines.
Rogan would humanize him. He’d surface the core message:
“The smartest people I talk to are worried. The tech guys are moving fast. Nobody is in charge. We might be building something that kills us all.”
Whether you agree with the premise or not, it would be a good fit and mutually beneficial for him to appear.
