Wealth taxes have been recently discussed as a mechanism to reduce inequality in the U.S. and other developed economies. They are also considered an important revenue source to cover future unfunded government liabilities.
For this question to be resolved with a 'yes', a new federal wealth tax rate of at least 0.5% on total net worth for High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs), defined as those with more than $30 million, must be passed by Congress and become law.
