If you elaborate in the comments on what an answer means, please note to look at the comments in the answer text.

Market close date is provisional and may be extended or shortened.

  • Update 2025-04-02 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Paid Upgrade Editions: Edition versions of the console that require a paid upgrade will not count as a qualifying release.

    • This means that any 'Edition' which is essentially a paid upgrade should be disregarded when determining the outcome for the market.

  • Update 2025-04-04 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Eligibility Clarifications:

    • First Party Not Required: The launch title does not have to be a first party game.

    • Deltarune chapters 3+4 Qualify: If Deltarune chapters 3+4 are dual released on the same day as the system, they count as the launch title.

  • Update 2025-04-09 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Mii Maker Resolution Clarification:

    • A Mii maker that is integrated similarly to the Nintendo Switch 1 (e.g., baked into the system settings) qualifies on launch day

    • There is no requirement for it to be a dedicated app with its own tile

  • Update 2025-04-09 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Achievement System Clarification

    • The presence of achievements in individual games does not qualify as the console having an integrated achievement system.

    • As with the Nintendo Switch 1, in-game achievement features in select titles should not be interpreted as the system having its own achievement mechanism.

@Eliza

https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/switch-2-wont-have-achievements-nintendo-confirms/

IMO, a couple individual games having their own achievement systems doesn't count. A bunch of Switch 1 games have in-game achievement systems and we don't say that the Switch 1 has an achievement system

@Robincvgr It's okay, fans of achievements can wait until the next Nintendo console.

@Robincvgr does this include the type of mii maker we saw on switch where it's baked into settings (ie, mii creation just has to be possible on the system) or does it have to be a dedicated app with its own tile?

@Antonexe yes, something as simple as the switch 1's counts

was wondering why the Zelda launch option was so low, and realized that the AI butchered one of my comments to be way more broad than just the option i was replying to...

oh well, it seems that's how traders are interpreting it, so i'll leave it that way

bought Ṁ10 YES

@Robincvgr does this have to be first party or would say, something like deltarune ch 3+4 dual releasing count? (and side question on if deltarune chapters constitute games)

@Antonexe doesn't have to be first party

deltarune ch3+4 counts

bought Ṁ75 YES
bought Ṁ25 NO

@Robincvgr I don't think the Edition stuff counts if it's paid upgrades

@gigab0nus Thank you for adding this. Good market addition!

curious why people are betting this up, is there new info beyond the teaser trailer?

@retr0id also do you really mean electromagnets rather than just magnets?

@Tomoffer Yes, I really mean what I wrote. (and I'd include "electropermanent magnets" as a subset of electromagnets)

@retr0id https://kotaku.com/nintendo-switch-2-price-release-date-specs-1851773502

The magnetic Joy-Cons will stay attached to the console by forming an electric circuit, which is broken when pressing a button at the top, so they shouldn’t be falling off easily.

bought Ṁ48 YES

@wasabipesto But yeah sounds like either electropermanent or electromagnets to me, which both count under retr0id's definition (will obviously wait for more reliable info to resolve)

opened a Ṁ1,000 NO at 60% order

my limit order is still up ;)

@wasabipesto the exact wording in the direct was a "magnetic circuit" so it's still unknown I think

@Tomoffer "magnetic circuit" is a term of art, you can make a magnetic circuit with plain old permanent magnets

sold Ṁ776 NO

@Robincvgr unclear if that's the meaning they were using though

@Robincvgr I (and Kotaku) interpreted this slide indicating an electric current but after looking at it I'm less sure what they actually meant. This is from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrTVeYm4iIM at 19 minutes in.

@wasabipesto Some wording on recent patents would also suggest electromagnetism but obviously no confirmation that they're actually using it https://www.polygon.com/nintendo-switch-2/520435/nintendo-joy-con-magnet-patent

@wasabipesto That slide what I was thinking about, "magnetic circuit" is a scientific term that doesn't necessarily imply electromagnets or electropermanent magnets, but I doubt they'd be using that term in its formal definition in something as public-facing as a Direct
