The current district 2 supervisor Catherine Stefani has been elected to the state assembly. Stefani will need to resign from her supervisor seat in December, allowing Mayor London Breed to appoint her replacement, according to https://sfstandard.com/2024/11/05/sf-election-2024-ad19-catherine-stefani-david-lee/
I am not sure which potential appointees meet residency or other requirements, or indeed who the most likely potential appointees are, so I will start with Breed (who likely doesn't live in the district, but always could have moved in anticipation) and living predecessors to Stefani as supervisor. Bet against those who don't make sense, add more options that do!
Article speculating about Stephen Sherrill who like Kingsbury I hadn't heard of before (my fault; I only lightly follow SF politics) due to both Breed and Sherrill having connections to Michael Bloomberg https://www.sfchronicle.com/sf/article/michael-bloomberg-support-influence-london-breed-19942663.php
Sherrill has tweeted very little and not since September https://x.com/scsherrill but there is a quote from him in the above article.
I'd never heard of Eric Kingsbury, just entered as an option because appeared in the SF Standard article below. Tweeted (or whatever that is called) for the first time since September https://x.com/ericmkingsbury/status/1861588886667042977 and noticing he was Breed's campaign manager (the article did say that, I didn't really notice) and apparently president of the D2 democratic club. Seems like a solid and plausible choice for Breed appointment.
Added Stephen Sherrill based on SF Standard article below and Carrie Barnes based on https://x.com/TheMarinaTimes/status/1860070122997842431
Breed’s rumored choices for the supervisor position have circulated for months. In addition to Johnston, they include her manager of state and federal affairs, Eileen Mariano, granddaughter of the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein; former Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier; campaign manager Eric Kingsbury; and Stephen Sherrill, director of the Mayor’s Office of Innovation.
Added names mentioned in https://x.com/Noahpinion/status/1856120277400510623 and screenshotted article.
