  • Update 2025-10-02 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Postseason home runs are included. The total will be Ohtani's MLB regular season + postseason home runs in 2025; if this total exceeds 55, the market resolves YES.

@10thOfficial sorry not trying to nag you just confused.

I’m not trying to step on your authority but I plan to ping @mods again on Friday to ask for a resolution absent some kind of response from you. I would ask mods to N/A the market given the grey area that exists although I still personally believe based on the interpretation you gave me Yes is the consistent resolution from you.

Copy to @traders for transparency.

@10thOfficial .... what's going on? <3

Fine it is long past time to ask @mods to step in.

I think 10thOfficial has the right to define this market to include the post season if they wanted to do so, but given the confusion I agree with consensus that this should just be N/A’d.

@MRME 10thofficial is a very active user and while i hope they make their decision soon, mods aren't gonna step in at this point before they've had a reasonable period to decide

@Ziddletwix fair enough. That makes sense. I’m relatively new to the site so I’ll ask what may be a dumb question - at what point would the mods be generally willing to intervene? A week from now? A month?

I don’t want a firm binding promise, I’m just trying to understand norms at a high level.

@MRME I don't think @10thOfficial checks notifications. You could try direct message.

@MRME there's no strict rule here. if i had to guess, i would say a world in which 10thofficial doesn't respond to repeated pings for ~2w might mean mods take over the market. but it would be extremely odd for an active user to ignore all requests to give an update on a contested market, so my real guess will be "creator will reply within a week or so and that'll be the next step".

(mods can overrule obvious misresolutions but generally that's a high bar. imo this market would not reach that case, with any resolution)

@Ziddletwix ok thank you. That makes sense.

@travis thanks. In the interest of transparency, here is what I sent:

Hi - would you please make a public statement and/or resolution about the Shohei Ohtani HR market?

https://manifold.markets/10thOfficial/shohei-ohtani-hits-more-than-55-hom

There is a lot of confusion at the moment. Thanks!

___

I think that is about as neutral a framing as possible but if others disagree they can, of course, send their own message.

"2025 MLB season" has a standard definition that is not ambiguous and cannot be "clarified" in a way that changes the definition.

@10thOfficial I see you are active today. Can you please explain your plan?

Alright @10thOfficial everybody has said their piece.

If you stand by post season home runs counting, this can resolve as yes since above 55 has happened.

If you want to N/A the market given the confusion, that’s also reasonable.

But at this point please make a call.

@MRME a third option would be to stand by the description of the market posted originally, acknowledge your mistake in saying that the playoffs are part of the season, and resolve no! Just to be thorough about things you could do.

@JTBooth absolutely not. You can’t lie to me and penalize me for taking you at your word.

@MRME I feel exactly the same, mate

@JTBooth ps show me where in the original description it specified regular season only.

You made an assumption. If you get burned by not clarifying, that’s on you.

@MRME I mean you could ask "will this count homeruns he hits in 2026?" and he could say "yes" to that, and it makes as much sense - it doesn't matter that the original says "2025 MLB season" if all of a sudden you change it to "postseason" or "2026" completely after the fact

Provided as evidence that the postseason is not the season and that these stats are not generally added to each other. This is baseball reference's summary of Ohtani's seasons and postseasons. Last year he hit 54 in the regular season and 3 in the playoffs.

@JTBooth ok but I asked @10thOfficial before I placed my bet. He said playoff HRs count.

@MRME they were wrong to do that, this market should be N/Ad now

@Tripping yeah, unfortunate for both of us, who had good reason to believe we could profit by pushing the market to 1/99, but I agree NA is the move.

@10thOfficial I haven't traded in this one, but note that a lot of @traders probably traded under the assumption of "2025 MLB regular season", as postseason stats are traditionally not included in a player's season stats.

@Calibrate ….but why would the market close on the last day of the post season instead of the regular season?

If people aren’t smart enough to look at dates and validate their assumptions, that’s on them.

I think it was reasonable for traders to assume postseason would not be included, but ultimately it is the creator's decision.

@travis I don't think it was reasonable, post season is not the season, it's right there in the name

they wouldn't call it the postseason if it was part of the season

@Tripping yeah absolutely not. Are we including batting practice too? WBC.?

@Tripping we agree.
