Transport for London have previously consulted on their plans for an extension to be constructed on the Bakerloo line of the London Underground. The extension would continue from the current terminus, Elephant and Castle, to Lewisham. This would enable housing development on the Old Kent Road corridor and provide improved public transportation to the existing residents of the area.
A route has been decided and safeguarding has been applied by central government. This prevents conflicting developments from blocking the potential extension.
The core elements of the plan are:
The Bakerloo line will be extended from Elephant and Castle to Lewisham.
There will be two intermediate stations on the Old Kent Road
The Bakerloo line will call at New Cross Gate.
I will resolve this as YES if the plan (or an alternative plan that achieves the core elements of this plan) is substantially funded or construction begins.
I will resolve this as NO if the plan is dropped from TfL's transport strategy, central government funding is permanently denied or when there is other conclusive evidence that the project will not go ahead.
