Looking for books where the villains are psychologically realistic, competent, terrifying, and not just a punching bag for the heroe(s) to destroy while looking cool.

Question closes in 30 days. I will read all books and mark each one as YES or NO based on a binary value of whether or not I found it satisfactory. However, if it's too many books, I'll only do this with the top 5-10.

(If a book only starts getting interesting at a certain point, let me know so that I don't just read the boring start and then put it down.)
